Developing high-tech agriculture linked to tourism.

According to statistics, Kon Plông district currently has 210 hectares of high-tech agricultural production, the highest in Kon Tum province. In addition to creating value through improving the quality of agricultural products, high-tech agriculture also contributes to the development of tourism.

The company Niinuma Tomofarm Măng Đen, located in the High-tech Agricultural Application Zone of Măng Đen, is one of the favorite destinations for tourists. Here, tourists not only get to admire high-tech agricultural products but also have the opportunity to directly harvest various agricultural products from the garden.

Hồ Thanh Tâm, the production manager of Niinuma Tomofarm, stated that during peak tourism seasons like New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, or other holidays, the company welcomes hundreds of tourists daily, generating monthly revenues of over 100 million VND.

"The development of agriculture is closely linked to tourism, and currently, 50% - 60% of Tomofarm's revenue comes from tourists," said Hồ Thanh Tâm.

Đặng Huyền Trang, a 10th-grade student at Kon Tum High School, shared her experiences of visiting Măng Đen with her family during holidays. Besides being impressed by Măng Đen's cool and fresh climate, she was excited to have hands-on experiences in planting and caring for various crops.

"When visiting the high-tech agricultural zone, I have the opportunity to learn about planting techniques, crop care, the impact of climate during cultivation, various farming methods, and types of agricultural products. This is very useful for my current studies and future endeavors," said Đặng Huyền Trang.

Nguyễn Quang Đông, the owner of Hai Đông Eco-farm in Măng Đen, Kon Plông, aims to integrate agriculture with tourism as tourists play a vital role in consuming products and building the brand of Măng Đen orange in general and his farm's oranges in particular.

"When tourists post images of the farm on social media, it creates a strong influence because our oranges are grown using organic methods in the midst of a pristine ecological forest, which is a rarity. This excites tourists to visit the orange orchard, and it also builds more significant trust with supermarket customers," explained Nguyễn Quang Đông.

According to the statistics from the agriculture department of Kon Plông district, the total area of high-tech agricultural production in the district is 210 hectares, with 27.7 hectares of greenhouses. Currently, there are 11 companies, cooperatives, and farms certified to produce according to VietGAP and organic standards, and 15 organizations and individuals have QR codes for product traceability. Among these, several models combine high-tech agriculture with various forms of tourism.

Phạm Thanh Bình, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Kon Plông district, mentioned that based on the local assessment, models that combine high-tech agricultural development with tourism, such as agricultural research and experiential tourism, have been highly effective and hold significant potential for development in the future.

Phạm Văn Thắng, Vice Chairman of Kon Plông District People's Committee, believes that developing agriculture linked to tourism can increase economic benefits from 10 to 25 times compared to traditional agriculture. With its inherent advantages, Kon Plông is well-suited for this type of development.

Recently, a delegation from Kon Plông visited Đà Nẵng and Lâm Đồng provinces, which have already implemented temporary regulations to promote agriculture combined with tourism. The purpose of this visit was to study and propose to the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Kon Tum province to consider adopting similar measures.

"If the Central Government and the province agree with this approach, developing high-tech agriculture combined with tourism would be very suitable for Kon Plông District. Some areas with potential for restricted crop development can be planned as combined agriculture and experiential tourism, which would be very effective. In addition to the economic benefits, this would provide tourists and students with real-life experiences to enhance their knowledge of agriculture," emphasized Phạm Văn Thắng.

At the first congress for the 2023-2028 term of the Măng Đen Tourism Association, Đặng Quang Hà, Chairman of Kon Plông District People's Committee, affirmed that once the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee approved the idea, the district would select some businesses and households with agricultural land to implement tourism services on agricultural land. This is a significant strategic direction for Kon Plông District, which will contribute to the continuous economic development of the district and leverage its existing local potentials and advantages.
